Any doula wishing to assist births pro-bono, in service, to underserved women (particulary Latinas) can contact CrossOver Amigas
Charleen Huguet (804) 564-1348 Jessica Leatherman (804) 744-5969
At present, the "COAmigas" are serving only non-English speaking women (hispanics) that are clients of CrossOver Ministries, who are attending prenatal education classes at CO and who give birth at MCV. This is a grassroots program that involves prenatal education and labor assistance, with the hope that it will become the spring board to reach out to other underserved women of our community. COAmigas are serving women in labor~ not as 'official' doulas, but as 'friends' in labor, thus the name: "Amigas". Knowledge of the Spanish language is not required, only a sincere and honest desire to serve women in birth. |
